Burn Ban in Effect for 90 Days

The Ellis County Commissioners Court meeting of August 9, 2010 has ordered that a Burn Ban is instituted and in effect for Ellis County, Texas, relative to all outdoor burning. This order shall remain in effect for 90 days from the effective date of this order unless sooner expired by determination of the Texas Forest Service or the Ellis County Commissioners Court. Town Hall Meeting Scheduled

Ellis County ESD#2 will host a Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Midlothian Conference Center, 1 Community Circle in Midlothian.

Items to discuss:

Fire and EMS Service Upgrade Plan
Future Property Tax Rate
Sales Tax Election

Currently the burn ban is not in effect.

Effective 9/17/2009 the Ellis County Commisioners Court canceled the burn ban.

If you are planning to burn, please follow the burning rules:

Call the Fire Department’s dispatch office at 9972/775- 3333 and advise the fire department dispatcher your are going to burn.

Wind should be 10 mph or less including gust.

Make sure you have water to control the burn, preferable a garden hose.

Make sure your burn pile is of a size you can control the fire.

Only burn organic material like leaves and brush – No tires or building materials (TCEQ regulations).

Call 911 if you are unable to control the fire.
