Town Hall Meeting Scheduled

Ellis County ESD#2 will host a Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Midlothian Conference Center, 1 Community Circle in Midlothian.

Items to discuss:

Fire and EMS Service Upgrade Plan
Future Property Tax Rate
Sales Tax Election

Currently the burn ban is not in effect.

Effective 9/17/2009 the Ellis County Commisioners Court canceled the burn ban.

If you are planning to burn, please follow the burning rules:

Call the Fire Department’s dispatch office at 9972/775- 3333 and advise the fire department dispatcher your are going to burn.

Wind should be 10 mph or less including gust.

Make sure you have water to control the burn, preferable a garden hose.

Make sure your burn pile is of a size you can control the fire.

Only burn organic material like leaves and brush - No tires or building materials (TCEQ regulations).

Call 911 if you are unable to control the fire.

CERT Meeting Scheduled

The Ellis County Emergency Services District #2 (ESD #2) has scheduled an organizational meeting for the recently approved Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). The meeting will be held at the Ovilla Fire Department, Larry C. Marlow Fire Annex at 105 S. Cockrell Hill, Ovilla, TX 75154 on Thursday, July 30, 2008. The meeting time will be 7:00 p.m. and the meeting should last an hour. The agenda of the meeting is:

CERT presentation regarding an operational CERT team in Collin County.
Discuss our CERT organizational goals and guidelines.
Discuss application process.
Discuss proposed training schedule to begin in August.

Schedule will be finalized after July 30th meeting. If you are unable to attend, please e-mail us at info@ecesd2.org and we will send you an application on July 31, 2009 by e-mail.

Ellis County Burn Ban Now in Effect

Effective July 20,2009 the Ellis County Texas Commisioners Court has issued a Burn Ban that is effective for 90 days.
