Currently the burn ban is not in effect.

Effective 9/17/2009 the Ellis County Commisioners Court canceled the burn ban.

If you are planning to burn, please follow the burning rules:

Call the Fire Department’s dispatch office at 9972/775- 3333 and advise the fire department dispatcher your are going to burn.

Wind should be 10 mph or less including gust.

Make sure you have water to control the burn, preferable a garden hose.

Make sure your burn pile is of a size you can control the fire.

Only burn organic material like leaves and brush – No tires or building materials (TCEQ regulations).

Call 911 if you are unable to control the fire.
