Effective 9/17/2009 the Ellis County Commisioners Court canceled the burn ban.

If you are planning to burn, please follow the burning rules:

  • Call the Fire Department’s dispatch office at 9972/775- 3333 and advise the fire department dispatcher your are going to burn.

 

  • Wind should be 10 mph or less including gust.

 

  • Make sure you have water to control the burn, preferable a garden hose.

 

  • Make sure your burn pile is of a size you can control the fire.

 

  • Only burn organic material like leaves and brush – No tires or building materials (TCEQ regulations).

 

Call 911 if you are unable to control the fire.
